Man lives through murder bid

A man managed to stagger more than a mile to safety after he was blasted with a shotgun. Liam Copeland McGinley, 28, was lured to a remote spot in the Donegal hills between Milford and Ramelton in the early hours of yesterday. He was shot in the abdomen and left for dead but made it to a nearby farmhouse. The residents brought him in and called an ambulance. He was taken to Letterkenny Hospital where he was last night being treated for serious injuries to his liver. After surgery doctors described him as being ill but stable. It was understood last night Mr McGinley, from Letterkenny, did not want to make a formal complaint to gardai about the shooting.
